On April 5, 2018, Thursday, Saul High School welcomed The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus and the House Democratic Policy Committee for a policy hearing on healthy food options and dairy in our communities. Welcome remarks were made by Representative Jordan Harris, Chairman, Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus, Representative MIke Sturla, Chairman House Democratic Policy Committee, Earl Fink, Executive Director, Pennsylvania Association of Milk Dealers, United States Congressman Dwight Evans, 2nd District of PA., Tamera Conaway Principal, Walter Biddle Saul High School, Russell Redding, Secretary, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Panel guests shared knowledge on the dairy industry and nutritional value in milk, local food and nutritional values, access to healthy foods in our communities, and comprehensive transportation and transportation of food. Closing remarks were made by David Ruvarac a Saul Agriculture teacher, Nicole Lorenz, a Saul High School 10th grade Animal Science major, Amani Terri, a Saul High School 11th grade Horticulture major, and Barbara Strain Saul Alumni President.
