W.B. Saul Jr. MANRRS Chapter Mentors Needed

Hello All,

We are reaching out to our wonderful partners and industry supporters of W. B. Saul to assist with a great mentoring opportunity for our students. This year, we have restarted the W.B. Saul Jr MANRRS (Minorities in Agricultural and Natural Resources and Related Sciences) chapter to encourage students to choose fields in the biological, agricultural, natural science, and STEM related fields. With the partnership of Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences and the Penn State MANRRS chapter, we are excited to connect Saul students with current college students majoring in the mentioned fields. The overall goal of this partnership is to increase mentorship and student enrollment in collegiate STEM programs.

We are in need of industry individuals who would be interested in meeting with or mentoring our students to discuss career involvement and opportunities in the STEM/ STEAM (Science, technology, Engineering, Agriculture, and Mathematics) fields. We hold our meetings every other Wednesday of the month after school from 3:15-4:15PM. We also are looking into having field trips to sites in order to expose our students to the many science/ agricultural based careers that are available in the Philadelphia area.

Here are our upcoming dates of meetings with the students:

January: 10th and 31st

February: 14th and 28th

March: 14th and

April: 11th and 25th

May: 9th and 23rd

June: End of the school year gathering. Date TBD

We do recognize that traveling schedules may be challenging and we also want to have as many industry individuals to meet with our students. We can provide webinars during the meetings, if guest speakers are unable to visit Saul.

Please contact Tiffany Turrentine at tmturrentine@philasd.org if you are interested in being apart of a great mentoring program for our students at W.B. Saul.

Warmest regards,

W.B. Saul Jr. MANRRS Chapter
